Director of Distance Education Operations - Online

The Director of Distance Education Operations is responsible for achieving quality outcomes for distance education students, growth and development of the distance education programs, and profitability goals of the distance education departments.

General Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Accountable for profitability of the distance education department and meeting budgetary goals
  • Meet all accreditation standards as established by the BPPE, ACCSC and DOE as well as all other regulatory agencies
  • Meet or exceed budgeted modular and yearly start goals
  • Meet or exceed budgeted retention rates
  • Ensure that the College operates within the established Title IV standards and guidelines
  • Ensure that all staff evaluations/reviews are completed per policy
  • Meet or exceed budgeted EBITDA goals for the fiscal year
  • Establish and monitor staff and institutional improvement goals
  • Ensure that the Learning Management System is educationally functional at all times
  • Manage and oversee all distance education department activity including Admissions, Financial Aid Services, Education, Career Services and Student Services
  • Responsible for overall morale and enthusiasm of staff, faculty and students
  • Ensures that all staff and faculty provide exemplary customer service to all current students, prospective applicants and campus co-workers at all times
  • Participate in developing, maintaining and meeting goals of annual budget
  • Conduct daily reality checks and weekly meetings with all departments to track activity and achievement of goals
  • Proactively manages attrition and incorporates all distance education departments in student retention initiatives
  • Ensures department is fully staffed at all times through implementation of effective succession planning
  • Communicates consistently with Campus President and supports all campus wide initiatives
  • Responsible for communication to appropriate parties regarding all purchasing, repair and collateral needs for all distance education departments
  • Ensure that proper training is administered for all new hires and continuous professional growth is provided for all employees
  • Responsible for adhering to all company policies at all times
  • Provide disciplinary action when necessary

Maintain Student Satisfaction/Advise Current Students –

  • Ensure that distance education attendance and grades are posted timely and distributed in accordance with all FERPA and company policies
  • Advise on Change of Status (CoS) concerns (LOA’s, Drops, schedule changes, retaking classes, etc.)
  • Advise on all attendance/academic/behavioral problem students in a timely manner
  • Work to ensure high participation rates in all student and faculty surveys
  • Contact any student who requests a meeting via the Student End of Course Survey (SEOCS)
  • Monitor daily attendance tracking system to solve attendance issues immediately
  • Review instructors’ mid-modular student conferences
  • Manage conflicts between students and faculty/staff
  • Inspire students to the highest level of achievement in preparation for meeting employer expectations
  • Assist with special projects as requested

Credentials and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required, Master’s Degree Preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of prior management experience in a distance education environment and/or acceptable industry-related experience required
