Veterinary Technology (RVT) Instructor - Distance Education
Platt College Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our Distance Education Veterinary Technology (VT) program as a Full-Time Instructor. This role is ideal for an RVT who is passionate about education, mentorship, and hands-on skills training, and who understands the time commitment required to support students in a rigorous professional program.
Platt College Los Angeles consists of four Southern California campuses located in Alhambra, Ontario, Riverside, and Anaheim. This is a full-time, exempt faculty position with significant instructional, student support, and in-person lab responsibilities.
The Distance Education VT Instructor provides high-quality online instruction while also supporting students through intensive, in-person clinical skills labs. Faculty play a critical role in preparing students for clinical practice and VTNE success and must be comfortable working evenings, weekends, and extended lab sessions throughout the year. Travel support, including hotel accommodations, meals, and mileage, is provided during required Agoura Hills lab sessions.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, organized, and effective distance education instruction aligned with course and program outcomes
- Support adult learners in a fast-paced, professional training environment
- Participate in on-site clinical skills labs at the Agoura Hills facility five to six days per week during lab sessions (5–10 weeks per session, three times per year)
- Work evenings and weekends as required during instructional and lab periods
- Provide academic support, feedback, and mentorship to students
- Collaborate with faculty and administration to ensure program quality and consistency
Credentials and Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Credentialed Veterinary Technician
- Current California RVT license in good standing (required)
- Associate degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program (required)
- Experience in training, mentoring, leadership, or supervision strongly preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
- Commitment to student success and professional standards
*Local candidates within a 45 mile commuting range of Alhambra
- This position is located at the Alhambra campus and requires travel to Agoura Hills and Pomona.
